I just found these poems I forgot I wrote

Dear Children

Dear children,

I often look at you and wonder what you will become. What gifts do you have which we adults cannot see? Which talents are you showing to us but we are failing to nurture?

If we help you, you can become anything you wish to be, so why do we commit such a crime as to overlook your genius?

Look at how you kicked that football. You are just a small boy but it flew from your foot. Could you thrill millions of people around the world with your gift?

Look at how you pirouette and dance across the classroom when you could just as easily walk. Are you destined to be on stage one day bringing joy and wonder to those who watch you?

Boy, are you loud. Some would say too bossy. But will you one day be a great leader of men? Will your voice bring a message which will change the world?

What balance you have on that unicycle. It wasn’t easy but you didn’t give up. Your patience and perseverance may be the making of a life- saving surgeon.

Little girl, you are so quiet. Too shy some say. But aren’t you kind? We can only imagine what wonderful things your kindness could do for the world.
